Introduction

Nivithigala of Ratnapura District of Sabaragamuva province has located in north Palmadulla, in the east Kahawattha also in south Kalawana and in west Elapatha divisional secretariat. It is 153.93 km ²and 24 Grama niladhari divisions. This is the area which include the wet zone has annual rain fall 4500mm and 23C⁰temperature with the normal climatic condition. Full population of Nivithigala is 63332 and 82% Sinhalees, 18% Muslims and others are 2% of them. 60% land of this has covered with plantation. Main crop is Tea also Rubber is second also can seen Coconuts, Cinnamon, in this area. Private plantations provide contribution to develop rural development. Gem industry is also another source in Nivithigala area. Nivithigala divisional secretariat launched various steps to give more past and productive service to the community. Front office, usage of new communication technology methods. 70 number of people usually get their services per day. This is an office which use E- divisional secretariat

History

The pattern of administration in explaining the begining of Nivithigala Divisional Secretariat
Divisional revenue Division has been Changed as government agent division including pallepattua and medapattuwa and brouhgt Forword to old dela Railway Station.At the begining this area was possessed with 08 Grama Niladhari Divitions. According to the location of the area pallepatthuwa people had to travel about 25km for their official affairs. So that the Elapatha sub office was Established.

Then Nivithigala Divisional Secretariat was divided in to 24 Grama Niladaari Divisions and Elapatha was divided in to 20 G/S/ Divisions. And widen the official affairs. In 25th of july 1978 this office was constructued.And brought forword lane from Dela.

In 1992 this office was established as Divisional Secretariat.

In 06th of June 1998 Elapatha Sub Office was also established as a separate administratine unit and Divitional Secretariat.

The Central Administrative Unit is Divisional Secretariat in the area and there are 24 Grama Niladari Division simultaneously 127 villages are to be found.From 2012 the old position was changed to nature benevolent and this permisses was changedand because exemplary office.

At present the clients can get thrie needs and demands done deligently in a good nature from officers.
